April – 2014 Convention Recap

2014 CONNECTICUT RIGHT TO LIFE CONVENTION

RECAP

The Connecticut Right to Life’s VERY SUCCESSFUL  Right to Life Annual Convention which took place this spring on April 26, 2014, at the Best Western Hotel, North Haven. The convention room was comfortable and friendly, the acoustics let people hear each other, the vendor tables were exciting, the food was delicious, and the speakers were fantastic.

  • Ovide Lamontagne, General Counsel, Americans United for Life, talked about current challenges and directions locally, nationally and globally.
  • Catherine Adair, former employee of Planned Parenthood, Boston, discussed abortion as a business, confirming what we have learned.  See http://connrlc.org/?page_id=199
  • Ovide Lamontagne, General Counsel, Americans United for Life, talked about current challenges and directions locally, nationally and globally.
  • Darlene Pawlick, conceived by rape and innovatively escaped from a sex trafficking ring, shared that underage girls who go for abortions, girls who had been raped by an older boy or man, or trapped in sex porn or trafficking rings go unnoticed in the “barely regulated” abortion industry  Further, girls who become pregnant without husbands in Connecticut have a higher risk of abuse by boyfriends because there is no parental involvement law.  There is nothing to call attention to them and they themselves are generally too afraid to say anything. 46% of the parents whose child has had an abortion do not know it, or if their child is being abused or if their child was raped.  During the question and answers session, Darlene shared ideas for national and state laws that would help save girls being used or marketed.

The room was filled. Many people sponsored seats for seminarians, clergy and students who were delighted to be there.

The audience gave stand up applauds to the speakers and readily agreed among themselves that they had happily acquired a renewed zeal for pro-life.  New members said it was exciting and they would definitely attend next year — they had learned new insights on the full scope of pro-life issues.

In addition to the outstanding speakers, there were interesting and informative vendor tables, awards.

Please join us at the next Annual Convention — our members like to gather, talk and exchange information is a social setting.

May God Bless You!
